Not 1 hatched from shipped eggs should I contact the breeder? Update!

I too have had tough luck with shipped eggs and now only buy fresh eggs. Some have luck, I just don't have the money to waste. After the eggs leave the breeders... you recieve as is products.

I have had ordered shipped eggs 4 times already...none that great of luck....2 out of 9 polish
6 out of 18 EEs
4 out of 18 BLRW

I just candled the last batch of eggs...only 10 out of 31 are growing...The others were clear...

This is a tuff one since you did have some that developed. More than likely they will say that it is not there fault.

If I was the seller I would also ask for pictures for proof.

I ALWAYS take pics of my eggs when I get them. If there is broken ones then I can prove it. I make sure my camera has the right day and time, I then contact the seller right away.

Good luck.

After being on both end of the transaction.

As a buyer, I have had zero hatches more than one time, usually after a long trip.

As a seller I have received reports of bad hatches.

As a buyer, I report my success or lack there of to the seller, just as a FYI.

As a seller, I usually (almost always) offer a replacement set, and so far the buyer has offer to pay for half of the cost of eggs in most cases, and shipping in all cases.

Even then I have had one customer who went 0'fer on two batches of eggs. Apparently it was not meant to be.

I say ask, and be willing to accept no for an answer, as eggs sales are a gamble. Also be willing to accept somewhere in the middle ground.

When you get eggs from high quality stock, at a premium price and go 0'fer, it is oh so disappointing. Been there.

If you won the auction for 6, she was generous to send 10.. If 5 were broken, by rights, she owes you 1 egg. The seller is not responsible for the rough ride, but she should at least cover what you paid for.. Not the extras.
I'm sure she sent 10 to compensate for possible breakage or damage in shipping..

It's a hard call.. cause it's expensive to replace broken eggs.. at the same time, if a seller doesn't go the extra mile to help a buyer.. they loose business!

Good luck.

Hi! I can't say what your seller can or will do, but I'll tell you if someone got a box of 10 eggs with 5 broken from here --- I'd replace them right away AND cover shipping myself. It's my responsibility as a shipper to wrap and pack eggs so they always arrive intact.
Good luck with your situation.

I got an email back from her and she has never had such a bad report back of her eggs from anyone and says that PO must have put them thru the ringer but if I pay for shipping she will send me new eggs! I'm soo happy!

I have all but given up on getting eggs shipped for hatching..

I was told long ago that if you got 50% hatch you were doing good.. I have learned that 50% would be an outstanding hatch..

my last batch of delaware eggs were well wrapped and had extra eggs added.. out of over a dozen only 3 showed any sign of developement and they died at about day 13... all the rest were clears..

I didn't contact the seller.. she packed the eggs well enough.. there is no way of knowing if the eggs are fertile.. the USPS will not admit that they drop-kick the packages.. it is just buyer beware.
