Not again 😣

Dougie has twice pulled the towel off of the front side of Sprightly's crate....It let's a tiny bit more light in, but not much of a difference. Its sweet, she keeps going and talking to her
They're both very confused, but I'm determined to give this a proper go.
Awwww. She misses her sister.

Sure sounds like she is having reproductive issues. Hopefully, she'll stop laying and take a good break. If you left eggs with her do you think she'd take the hint and go broody?
I don't think she'd go broody, but I'm going to try that as well, it can't hurt to try it

I'm so hoping that if she takes a break, she'll have time to recover and do better... but I'm starting to dread that she won't be able to get better
This is why having three ducks would have been far better....
Best case scenario, Dougie wouldn't be alone out of the coop during the day while Spry is inside.
Worst case scenario, she wouldn't be left alone. :(

Would cardboard be safe for them? It'd be handy to put the eggs in a box, so she can have them in her crate during the day and in the coop as normal during the night

I just don't want them to try eating the cardboard....
Who knows what curious ducks will try to eat but I've never had a problem with mine eating cardboard.

Mine absolutely started eating some cardboard I was using as a divider when I brought them in one of the -40f nights we had over the winter. I would avoid using something with too much ink or anything like that on it, but I think a plain box would be fine.

Wishing you and your girls the best!
