Did you end up getting to make a vet appt for Spry?

Not yet, I've decided to wait it out again

I just don't believe the vets will be able to help us enough to justify the stress of her going in- plus I'd struggle to afford it all right now

Well, I think we have a normal ish egg today! Very few deposits and the strongest most normal shell she's laid in weeks!
That doesn't mean she won't go downhill again, but I can say with certainty that yesterday she ate a bunch of oyster shells, something I haven't seen her do in I don't know how long....

Oh and when I went to let them out, she came off the nest and the eggs were all warm

Likely just sitting on them after she laid, lol, I don't expect her to go broody that freaking fast. But I will say that usually she walks in, pops an egg out and walks off again, so this is encouraging that she's at least showing an interest in the nest

Sprightly has had some time to think, and as far as she's concerned, I'm asking her to give up her free time and life, to become a stay at home mother- and thus this evening I found the cardboard ripped up and the eggs covered in.... a lot of unpleasant excrement.

It was all going so well, but she must have heard me talking about making her broody
Still, there's always hope she'll change her mind.....

Well, Sprightly looks great tonight
I mean, better than she has seemed for ages, she was chatty, and her tail was pointing up, like it normally should, she seemed totally comfortable. Happier than she's been in a little while

It's a relief because I had a hard time getting the calcium into her today- she was not deceived when I hid it in fruit and we ran out of blueberries, her favourite.
Ended up syringing most of it down her which she was super fiesty about, but we managed.

Fingers crossed we get a proper shell tonight
Or no egg to lay, at all

You're a very dedicated duck mom, and she's lucky to have you... No matter how much she's unhappy about any given tact you have for making her healthy!
