Not again 😣

Will she eat bread? are you using pills If I have to give a pill I take a small piece of bread and smooch the bread around the pill toss a piece without a pill to show them what I have then offer the one with the pill in it. They eat it right up. But I much prefer giving liquid it's much easier.

I'm glad she seems like she's doing better!

You're a very dedicated duck mom, and she's lucky to have you... No matter how much she's unhappy about any given tact you have for making her healthy!
I appreciate that! Thank you

I had another hard time this morning, ended up again having to syringe it down, she chewed my thumb in the process, almost to the point of breaking skin, but it's down :th

I really need more blueberries.

I'm still using pills, I did try once with bread but she HATED it....
Wet cardboard?
Yum.
Fresh bread?

Whenever I can't get the full dose into treats, I crush the pills, mix with a tiny bit of water and syringe it down. It's not ideal, but it's worked okay so far

Sorry to hear about her dislike for bread and her appreciation of wet cardboard.

I frequently have to convince my geese to let me have chunks of inedible objects they try to eat -- including bits of glass they've dug out of the ground, pieces of plastic from who knows where and HUGE pieces of wood that would choke them.

But anything even remotely edible, and my goose girls are IN!!

Dougie once grabbed a stick and tried hard to chew and swallow it
I had to chase her
She ran away squeaking, like "NOO, it's MINE, you cant have it!!"

Got it off of her.
That thing was not going to fit down her throat....
It was one of her first times free ranging, in her defense. She knows better now. Mostly

They can sure get themselves into trouble. My goose loves to chew wood. She even chewed a tarp till it was strings hanging. Also, bird netting she found on their property somewhere and when I saw it hanging out of her mouth I had to pull it out. Thank goodness I was able because she had swallowed some of it. :hmm She finally grew up and now she just chews wood.

They are the most stress inducing creatures I've ever met.
But still, we love them 😂

I have to be careful with edible stuff too... I always wet my ducks pellets, because if I don't, Sprightly will eat them so fast every morning that they actually get stuck in her throat and I'd have to save her from choking.
She isn't like Dougie, she won't stop to take sips of water to wash it down. I'd have to command her to and she'd dip the tip of her beak in the water and then try to run back to the food. I'd say "no, water!" And eventually she'd take a proper sip lol.

So now, I always wet their food and that way it goes down nice and easily

Honestly having these birds is like having children, [toddlers]
I used to be responsible for up to 4 toddlers, I think my ducks may be more stressful :gig
How are your girls doing today?
They seem okay, Spright laid another shelled egg last night, it had calcium deposits again, but it wasn't too bad... I've seen her gobbling down oyster shells, past couple days. So if the problem was that she wasn't eating them, now they've been swapped out for other ones she seems to be happy with them. Hopefully she's able to start consistently making shells again...

Weren't you the one who, just the other day, commented (when my rabbit nipped me) that at least duck bites aren't as bad? Hmmm? :lau
