I have 29 chickens with favus...they are all being treated with the proper meds and are on the mend.....I heard on the forum that favus is caused by improper hygiene....I am a loving owner who spent 1500$ on a very fancy chicken coup and run....It is insulated and they have very nice dusting bath areas in the coup......I change the bedding often....they eat very well, layer mash, oyster shell, kitchen scraps, grit and vitamins in they're water...the only thing I did different this year than i did other years is they stayed indoors for a few days at a time when the wind would blow inside the coup.....I live in canada and when the temp or the wind was to cold i kept them in...I am stumped as to why they would get this......

Because it's caused by a fungus, I'm sure it's more likely for chickens to get it in nasty conditions. I have pristine coops and I had a hen get it once....but none of the others got it.

It's just one of those things....

I was worried that it was something i did wrong, and wanted to know what it was so it never ever happens again. I have 29 bald crusty chickens. not fun
