Not an Emergency...Marek's in the Flock

Well, I think I must have had a false negative on that Marek's test. We had 2 others go down in the last few weeks. Faster this time but without the curled foot. I had no idea what it was. I took them in for necropsy on Monday and they called me today. Lymphatic Tumors. They haven't said for sure yet that it is Marek's I will find out next week. But it is highly likely. Crap.

Yes...crap! Please keep us up to date! My first necropsy was a false one, but the second....it was a no briainer. Keep the faith, it isn't over yet. If you aren't already, give the rest a super B Complex vitamin in their water. I would use a whole pill to 1 gallon of water for now. It's only going to help no matter what the findings.

Well.... I've been feeding olive oil and probiotics, and the mass has gotten LARGER! She's acting quite normal, and is still getting larger. If she's not better by monday, I'm doing crop surgery, just praying there will be something in the crop!

I've locked up my potential crop chickens. I feed them mostly bread soaked in olive oil and water. I think the message is important. I've done it 5x a day, massaging downward, and you can actually use more pressure than you think. I have been able to massage the lump real thin in different areas, and try to break it up manually. Also give water freely. Or alternate oil with water.

The Virginia State lab in Harrisonburg. They are right over the mountain from us so I actually dropped the chickens off personally.

Do they say what organs they are finding the tumors on? It's hardly a guarantee, but Marek's tumors do tend to attack certain organs first.

Ok trying one more time. Update on ee...she's fine. Eating, drinking, running, sun bathing all with the flock. Also laying eggs. See what she caused

400

26 eggs, hers are a small light blue/green, all the others are green and bigger, like large egg size. I was wondering why I only got 6 eggs yesterday and 5 today when I normally get 10-14 each day. Stinker!

LOL, it's always such a surprise when you find a new place they decided to lay at (by mistake) I found 21 eggs one time in an old dog house in the yard.
