Hello! It’s been a little while since I’ve been on here! My family and I are now raising 7 Cuckoo Maran hens and one CM rooster. They’re still youngish (about 16 weeks) and are doing well overall. We’re really enjoying watching them, they free range during the day and thankfully the dogs don’t bother them a bit! Anyways...a few days ago I noticed one of the hens was acting very drowsy and has also developed a limp, she mostly stays in the run or coop, thankfully she is eating, but not as much as the other birds.
I tried to find a similar issue on previous threads, but can’t seem to pinpoint exactly what’s going on...so I apologize in advance if this is a redundant question/ issue.
Much thanks in advance for any advice!
Sara

Have you checked the bottoms of her feet? The drowsiness is concerning. Have you noticed any irregular poos?
Her feet look fine, but she does favor her right foot and curls it up when I try to look at it. Her poop seems ok, but I’ll sit with her for a while and take note.
I will post a pic tomorrow when it’s light out.
Thank you!!!

Here are some photos. She’s actually up and around today, thankfully! Still limping tho.

That's good. Is she jumping down from a roost from quite a height? That could be causing the bruising. If so provide adequate bedding under the roosts to soften the fall and possibly lower them.
Hmm, I hadn’t thought of that. The coop is about 3ft up off of the ground. I may need to lift her down or only let her use the ramp from now on.
I did pour some ACV in it....sounds crazy, but it may have helped some!? She’s definitely improved from yesterday, but she’s still not leaving the run with the other hens.
