An interesting parallel - I was just noticing, looking through the pictures, that the tag seems to be about the same length as the chick's beak, from the tip to the start of the nares, in each picture.

It looks like end of the tag is going to open like a feather shaft. It could just be the picture but it’s a tad lighter then the rest.
Boy, hard to say what kind of problem it might become and how to trim or remove it safely.No problem at all. I'm thinking that if this grows too large, and becomes a problem, I should be able to trim it back similar to trimming an overgrown beak or toenail. I would certainly be keeping styptic powder on hand for that, though, if it comes to pass.

The fact that it's growing so fast would make me lean towards removing it now,
but to DIY it could be risky...who knows how deep that group of cells is embedded.
Tough call.
