Not bumblefoot - but then what?

My goose has a bumblefoot-like "bump" under her right foot. It's the size of a small hazelnut and located in the middle of her foot, right under the first toe joint of her middle toe. The bump is kind of soft, so it's now starting to lie down on its side when she walks. I can see it from above now, stretching the webbing.

It's not sore at all, so the vet says it's not bumblefoot. Also, there's no black centre dot/spot. It's just a bit callused like the other toe joints.

We're getting a checkup next week. The vet is hesitant to operate since it's not bumblefoot. But of course it must be causing some discomfort, especially if it keeps growing.

Has anyone experienced anything like it? Do you know what it is - and does it go away by itself, or will she need surgery?

I have a gander with a big callace on the bottom of his foot. It was split when I first started treating it, So cleaned it off with vetericyn first and the pulled the tore spot off. Then sprayed again with the vetericyn and then put bag balm on it at night to soften it up some, They are hard as can be. I then got another dime sized piece off so just kept traeting it. But stopped with the hard sub zero temps. I can still see a big lump in the middle of the foot.

I also have a female that has a big growth on the side of her foot that I am going to work on soon.
I might try myself to operate on their feet to help them out. A bit scared though......

I'm really baffled as to what this is and how it originated. Luckily, she doesn't seem bothered by it; except maybe a slight tendency to favor that foot when standing on one leg.
