Sadly, it doesn't end in grade school.
I had a mother come complain because her college age child failed my class. The kid failed because she didn't do a huge chunk of the lab work! I gave the 20 something year old student a second chance to make it up and she still didn't do it all! So technically, she's failed it twice now. The mom is complaining again. The kid has spent more energy trying to get out of the class than she ever did IN the class. With a mom like that, I see why.

I teach adults and you are so right! I so often want to do that "Here's your sign!" routine in class! They can be so much worse than kids!

Too bad human technology made by the smarter ones are able to keep the dumb ones alive to breed. Humans have effectively stopped their own evolution starting many many many eons ago when they altered their environments to suit their needs rather than adapting!

You know what the problem is? All these safety devices aren't allowing natural selection to happen. I'm sure I've said that on here before.

Hehehehe, completely agree! Yep, that's our problem. Its why they ought to let people buy sudafed without going on some list, so natural selection could have a chance. Yep, see? We must be sisters, LOL.​

On a more serious evolution stance of humans working against themselves, at one point in history, only about 60 years ago really, to my memory of what I read (exact numbers probably off), children were born in the 5-8 lb range and there were fewer mother complications because the kids were too big or fewer kid problems because they were too small. Now children are being born from extremes of 3-14 lbs, with both child and parents surviving, and so the distribution of child weight at birth has been increasing, thus resulting in more complications to children and mothers of small babies and big babies that historically would not have been able to make it and pass on their genes. Medicine, the double edged sword.
