Not feeling welcomed

sometime you don't get a sponce because no one knows what to do and I figure they may be looking up to help you, out there are no vets? on here I think there are no vets and all the experience we have is first hand meaning we have had this problem this is not to replace a vet. (do you have a chicken vet around you?) and to figure out what is wrong you may give us more infomation sometime questions now some question may not sound like it should be asked but it is to say what it wrong and like me sometimes they can't answer and don't. I feel no meanness or that I am not welcome but I know sometimes it take time I was on a goat baord and I am on 3 chicken baord so if one can't answer or doesn't know I have others who might be able to answer the question. my for tey is how to treat injured or animals in shock I still am learning about Chickens and I don't have all the answers.
Be patient and someone will try to answer your post or at least ask how your rooster is.

Just a quick jump in here to welcome you to BYC. I am new too and you're not the only one who can't figure out how to get immediate answers. If you have hours to spend, sometimes you can find the answers in other threads. So far, those are very helpful. And I'll keep trying.

I'd also like to welcome you, and hope that you don't get discouraged! I'm also new but I've found this to be such a warm and friendly community! I'm still learning my way around, but I've found the search function to be very helpful. The archives go back for years. I was really surprised to see how many times the same questions come up. (Try a random search and you'll see what I mean!) This makes me hesitate before I post a question, because the people who have been around for a long time have got to be a bit tired of seeing the same questions over and over

...although I have never seen anyone respond to someone's question with a nasty answer. Although we all think our chickens are unique

I've found that many of us do share the exact same problems and can learn from each other's experience! I do hope your roo is ok!

Welcome!!

I remember posting about and urgent situation and help couldn't come fast enough. I kept checking for a post with information , and no response for a long time like a day.It felt like foreever. During that time I searched the old threads in hopes of an answer, and I learned a lot reading. SOmetimes it is hard to search when you don't know what words to put into the search window.

Some make that most vets do not know their way around a chicken. Isolate. Keep warm and comfortable. Learn which antibiotics are used for which situation. THe chicken doctor is also a man withloads of experience and has a mail order catalog with supplies. You can call him for help. First poultry --someone help me out here on the name.

Aw! No one is shunning you! I'm very new here myself and have found the people here to be exceedingly friendly and helpful. I'm trying to raise quail (from egg to bird), and even though this place is called backyardchickens, I've gotten great answers about my worries and concerns regarding my still incubating quail.

Sometimes it is slow, other times, a lot of input at once. I think it just really depends on time of day, free time, and whether or not those that have either know about what you are asking. :)

Sometimes some of us are so busy that BYC takes a back seat to our busy lives. And sometimes posts do get buried under all those forums and threads as well.

Many times I don't have an answer to your questions and wait for someone else to respond to it. I was that way too and realized hey, they are not ignoring me, they are just busy and if and when they get around to it or by chance, surfing the net for my answers.

Don't give up...we are not ignoring you!

This is like real life, sometimes it takes longer to make friends than other times, I feel a little on the outside when I read threads and realize there are some real close friendships here held by some people but I know in time the aquantinces I have made here will eventually turn into at 1 or 2 friendships, it just takes time....

Usually members that post in the emergencies/sickness sub forum are quite helpful. The same can be said of the predators sub forum.

Unfortunately some of the other sub forums are very cliquish.

sorry to jump in here

I have NEVER felt I was in cliquish place in here I have always felt comfy and not worried if I fit in, I have a quirky personality and I feel I fitted in just fine.

I am sorry but I never fellt like that.
