I thought she said she had 9 1/2 month old chickens. If they are 6 weeks old they probably need some warmth.

I had to read it a few times too, you gave really good information for older birds, I never give them heat either, they are really hardy, even my silkies and frizzles are fine in our extreme winters.

In a couple weeks those chicks will be 8 weeks old and will most likely be fully feathered. They won't need heat and my advice will work.
