Not in my house!!!

I dont like mice particularily(well, I have had pet mice before but that different than a house mouse invasion...) and definitely not in the house.

Hope you are able to get it out of there!

I have never been so proud of my kitties when I found a dead mouse on my kitchen floor one morning. The previous tenants had a bit of a mouse problem and we did too this winter, hearing them scratchingunder the house. Well havent had ANY problems since the cats killed that mouse. Maybe it sent a message to the others lol.

SNAP !!! It was the early hours of the morning- No idea what time for sure- but the noise did wake me enough to realise what I had heard.... I just got up now- turned on the kettle and went to check the traps- And there was the little guy in the trap.... His litle beedy eye staring up at me again

Even though I already knew he was dead...I still lifted my feet up off the floor as I read this post.... So glad we dont have rabies out here in Australia though.....

We have a cat named Steve, the only mice he can't get to are the ones in the attic. They get to enjoy the death blow of D-con.

hightly effective

On Friday I got to meet the first SNAKE of Spring - yes, I screamed

Oh, I had some mice get in the house, my tubby cat is ON IT when they do. Who knew a 20lb cat would be a good mouser? Traps and poison are fine, just though I would let you know of another method. Mice hate mint, I don't know why. So I take corn cob bedding (it's in pieces, I know it can be found at wal mart) and soak some mint essential oil in it. I use a mix of spearmint and peppermint, it has to be the real deal though. Then I take the mint cob in glass votive candle holders and put them all over my basement. Spots where they could get in and spots where they could hide. Refresh about once a month. It really does work and your house will smell good. I haven't planted outside yet, mostly cause mint will take over, but I am thinking about doing it on the side of the house.

Ok so I have the traps.. One disposed of dead mouse.... But I am thinking the neighbours cat and some mint essential oils will be welcome additions in the house to make sure no others decide they wish to share my house. Thanks sune42 - Thats sounds like a great idea to try and stop them coming inside in the first place....

I have a question, I have mint growing on the side of my house, can I break off a few sprigs and put them in the places that I know the mice like to go, like into the bottom of my cockatiel's cage in the middle of the night?

They are always sneaking in there. He is an old man and rather crotchety now, and he just stands on his perch and whispers little cockatiel profanities at the mice when they bother him, that's how I know they are in there, long before I hear them. My cats are EXCELLENT mousers, but apparently we have a much more severe problem than I am aware of (doesn't help that I live in an extremely small town and there is a grain elevator half a block away!) because I find dead mice on almost a daily basis, all year long! I was vacuuming this morning and found a dead baby under my living room chair.

But I gave kudos to the cats for doing their jobs. Mine don't eat the mice though, they simply torture them to death and then proceed to play hockey all over the house with them, or keep away. Gross! I just wait until they are done, and then clean the mess up. Good thing I'm not scared of mice. However my mother is, and I can't help but chuckle when I see a rather large 58 year old woman scream and then try to clammer up onto a chair to get away from the tiny fuzzy mass scurrying on the floor. Amuses me no matter who it is, not just my mother. Now, cockaroaches, that's a different story! I freak out if I see even a baby one of those! I nearly ruptured my vocal cords a few years back when we had bought a fridge used from a second hand store, and it came complete with residents, if you get my drift.

I nearly passed out when I saw the first one crawl across the fridge door. I screamed and beat it with my shoe until my daughter had to yank the shoe out of my hand before I could dent the fridge. Another one I found in my dresser drawer, and a third on my dining room wall. Those were thankfully the only ones that came in the fridge. I freaked so bad each time, and used almost an entire can of RAID each time. I can't handle those! I don't have them in my house, but occasionally a wood cockaroach will wander inside on a piece of wood, and I freak out all over again, even though it's a different kind of bug. For me, if it looks like a cockaroach, it IS A cockaroach, and I run screaming for the hills!!! I'll take mice any day over roaches!
