Not just molting-crop HELP! 🙏🏻♥️

I would only give her water soluble things to eat, her regular pellets or crumbles mixed with some water is good. No dairy, or anything fiberous for sure, that will just upset things more. Until things get moving you don't want to just add to the problem. Looks like a sweet girl!
She is so sweet! Thank you! 🙏🏻

Good morning, Just an update with quick question… came home from work yesterday and she was pretty active.. scratching in flower pot and free ranging. The only treat I gave her was watermelon which she really enjoyed. I have her some more coconut oil (which was very hard to do) she is feisty! This morning I woke and her crop is still hard.. smaller I think but still there. I will massage this morning as well and when I get home from work which is late today 😭 Do I need to give oil every time I massage or can I just massage? The oil is really stressing her out… that process. She is drinking water.

I also noticed a pretty good poo under her roosting spot this morning that had more solids..I hope that’s a good sign! I’ll take a pic. Her crop is pretty hard this morning though :/

If things are starting to move, then yes, a good thing. If you can break up the mass just with water, you can do that. The coconut oil does help get things loose and moving though. How are you giving it? If you freeze or refrigerate it, break it in pieces and put in the beak, she should swallow it. She may pick it up herself, they usually like it.

Thank you 🙏🏻 it could take a few days correct for all this to fix? I just felt so deisappointed when I felt her crop this morning. I do the coconut oil solid as you mentioned.. it’s just a battle 😂 I’ll definitely give her some this morning with her massage since I’m not home until late today. I’ll remove her from roost tonight when I get home to do the same. 🙏🏻

It’s almost like it breaks up when massaging them hardens again if that makes sense. When I was massaging yesterday it felt softer then this morning really hard again…. Not sour.

That's not uncommon. They usually don't drink overnight, so it tends to harden up. It can take some time to get it broken up enough that it all will pass. Did you worm her? This is sometimes a sign of a reproductive problem also, but have to rule everything else out. Crop problems can be pretty frustrating since you can't see inside to see what's really going on. Most of my crop issues have been reproductive problems, second have been issues with worms. I had one with an impacted gizzard.

Thank you again for your help. You’ve been very helpful! I did worm them.. interesting you bring up the reproductive issue… hmmm.. she was mid molt when this all started.. also in my opinion Dandelion has always had a little hiccup with egg laying. For example.. every once in a while I would have to give her calcium tablet to help her lay.. she would struggle in evening.. vent pulsing.. lethargic .. I’d give her calcium and she would lay within an hour and be totally fine.. this occurs about once a month… do you think calcium would help at all now? She is active this morning and seems happier despite the crop being full… 🥰

If she's molting then she's most likely not laying anyway, they usually dont' do both at the same time, it takes too much energy. Sometimes birds with reproductive issues will get a rest and do pretty well during their time off from laying. It may just be coincidence that it happened during molt, it's very hard to say. I would just keep working on it, and give her some time. It's really hard to be patient when we want them to get better, but sometimes it does take some time. If it's reproductive, then in time it will become more apparent, rather than getting better.

Good morning. Day 3 of coconut oil massages and it’s still hard in the morning. However I feel like it may be softer. I’m able to soften it quicker. I saw solidish poo under her again this morning from roost and actually witnessed a solid poo after her evening massage. Are those good signs? She did seem interested in eating yesterday.. mushy crumbles which she hasn’t been interested in for days… 🙏🏻 I hope it’s okay to let her eat those soft items. She is active during day with her friends as well and drinking water. I do have a question… I do the coconut oil chunks (3-4 tiny pieces) daily.. that won’t become rancid will it? I’d hate for her to develop sour crop… thanks again for your help! I hope she is getting better! I’m trying! Do you recommend any sort of stool softeners? I’ve seen some posts about that.. thank you again for all your help!
