Not laying but acting broody?

One of my wyandottes was found in the best box on my porcelain fake egg! She was on it so long she looked dehydrated and the egg was warm!!!! After she moved when I startled her she hid in the tall grass under a chair and hung out like it was a nest. Is she finding a place to lay her first egg!!!! Or is she just a freaking weirdo. ...

She's working on that first egg. Hopefully, she'll go back in the nest again. The first egg can take a long time. Best to try not to spy on her! She might be shy!
