I have been trying to find out what breed my Buford is for a while without success. So now that I found this site, thought I would ask about him as well. Tried to get a clear pic but he's very active and always moving

. He's not a bantam but not near as large as my RIR roo.

Thanks!!

Yes he is

. I don't think he is a game bird although some of my friends believe he is. The good part on top of being gorgeous is that he is quite calm and not very agressive. Won't try to pick him up though as his spurs are long, and especially since he is about 1-1/2 years in age - not a good time to start

. He likes that we feed them well (oatmeal, meal worms, peas, greans, etc.) and watches over the hens wonderfully.

I hope someone can tell me what he is...even if he is a mix. The tail feathers are longer than when we bought him at 10 months (April of this year) and such a beautiful green/black in color.

He could be a Phoenix, but I'm not sure because of the angle of his tail and the color of his feet and shanks. I agree with Speckledhen that he could possibly be a Phoenix cross.

Here's a picture of a Golden Duckwing Phoenix for comparison:

.

The thing to watch would be his sickles... With the Phoenix, they won't molt their sickles; instead, they'll grow out to be two or three feet long.

If you look past the colour you'll see that your bird & the bird the Chicken lady posted are built differently ie: tail set 7&of back. To me your bird looks much more like a Golden Duckwing Old English Game than it does a Phoenix.
