Hi, I have two eggs in the incubator that I was going to let my hen hatch out but 6 days ago 1 hatched and she killed it then 4 days ago another one hatched and she killed it so I took the remaining 2 eggs. Obviously all these chicks are at different development levels-don't know what happened there-the hen had been hiding with the eggs for a while before I found her with them. One of the eggs is definately alive and about ready to hatch. Did float test and low floated and rocked around and can hear pecking against walls of egg. The other one I'm not sure-when I float tested it would float for just a split second then sink with no movement. Is this egg dead or just not developed enough to float properly? I am going to have to go buy a friend for this chick somewhere if he hatches and the other one doesn't...thanks!! The definately alive one is a barred rock or RIR crossed with a polish rooster and the questionable one is a black australorp crossed with the polish rooster. My silkie rooster could be the dad but I doubt it.
