Not sure if I helped the chick or doomed it

I do the same. The ones at the end seem to have the most trouble. I will chip away the shell in a cirlcle. After a few minutes I will slowly tear away the membrane. Trying not to tear any vessels. I haven't lost one yet. Alot of ppl don't agree with this. But its what I do. I only help after its been a really long time. Good luck.

I have helped a few chicks.... they all made it, but one was deformed.

This one is still in it's membrane, wrapped in a wet towel. It still peeps a lot and seems OK. I'm hoping it will come out when it's ready.

If it starts getting weaker help it out a little more. That's what happened to mine.

I think its good you opened it up a little bit more. At least now its getting air. With the head at the wrong end away from the air cell it had no chance once it needed air.

I hit blood on mine as well. Like someone told me on my wrong end zipping question... there's more stuff down there. My chick is still fine.

Thanks. I'll keep an eye on it. It still cheeps and tries to get out, but it hasn't made any real progress.
