Not sure if this qualifies to go in the coop sticky... my project!

aw gee...guess I will have to take more pics...
There were several houses in this neighborhood (incl my orig one) that had to be torn down as there was asbestos in the roofing material...ppl moved and left several railroad ties they had used in their yard. Well seeing as I had no materials for this yard (and no way to buy new nor transport such me and some neighborhood kids rolled em over to my yard ( on wooden poles>these things are huge and heavy!) The surface was no longer planed flat (but hey...that just adds to the charm) and I need a quick fix for my kids friends to have a place to gather and sit in the yard...so I rested them on two (short) upturned railrroadtie pieces and set the tie on top of those (so a bench) >managed a big ole bolt thru the top into the supporting piece > but it was really wonky to say the least...so I filled it up/in with the foam stuff... now is rock solid (and still that way)

No I do not have koi but I do have some 11 inch big ole goldfish I bought when they were but an inch or so long for 25 cents lol... my pond is pretty self sustaing (meaning I do not have to run an aerator pump continuously...in fact I rarely turn it on with electricity gone thru the roof as it has (but it is so nice to hear the water trickling down over the rocks you see there at the back lol)...
I see babies and such and on occasion have had to thin them out but not often...I think the fish at one point eat the tadpoles and the larger frogs in turn eat the smaller fish (?)...at any rate I have not had to feed them for a couple years now.

ETA: btw I dug that pond out myself and used my old plastic cornerbathtub and a plastic cement mixing tub both buried over six foot deep (the middle part of the pond is very shallow) covering it all in liner after I had dug out the shape (first lining it with old carpet to prevent tears in the liner) .... I luv recycling!
