Hello everyone, can I get your opinions of this Silkie chick? It is almost 10-weeks-old. Male or female? I am leaning towards rooster. It and our other youngest chick that we are pretty sure is a rooster are always challenging each other. Thank you in advance.

I have 4 chicks that hatched mid-June. 3 of them were named by my granddaughters. I think I heard one of them crow the other day and I can't have a rooster because I am in the city. I need to know which one - or ones? might be male.

These two are Chickolatta (facing the camera) and the nameless one.
I know that they all have Black Copper Marin in them. I suspect two of the dark ones are pure and the third is mixed with something else. I know Dave is Black Copper Marin x Americauna

It's very early, but I'm leaning toward male. (I don't have much experience & both of my silkies turned out female. Please don't make any decisions based on my guess, because in time you can be more sure of the gender.)

That being said.... I'm thinking male because the comb is bigger than mine were. The comb also has some wrinkles. The crest looks like it may have some of those hair-like structures (streamers) growing in back. A female's crest is very rounded.

Too young. Once they're fully feathered, you might be able to tell on some.

#1 Rhode Island Red: Left- pretty sure this is a Roo

#2 RIR same pic Right- pullet?

#3 RIR pullet?

#4 Barred Rock

#5 BR

# 6 BR darker than the other 2, but still hoping all 3 are pullets

# 7 French Black Copper Marans

#8 FBCM

#9 FBCM

# 10 oldest (6-7week) FBCM with auburn - a little concerned this is a Roo

#11 no idea on breed, sold to us as a Cuckoo Maran- obviously not But hoping it is a pullet.

Black and orange I'm pretty positive is a pullet but what about the larger orange one?

Silkie/polish cross...believe he/she is about 15 weeks.
