Not Sure If You've Got A Pullet Or Cockerel? Click Here! Thread 2

Her comb isn't red. You can see that the tips are peach so the red is just flushing under the skin. I can't say 100% it's a pullet but it looks like one to me. Just going through her tail molt. Like 80% of my girls combs looked the same color at times when that young and many had combs and wattles around the same size. Feet also look the same size as your other pullets. So nothing speaks rooster to me.

Thank you!

Hello! I decided to start another thread on helping all you back yard chicken farmers determine the sex of your chicken.
I know it can sometimes be super tricky to identify gender in chicks, so that's why we made this thread! No need to start your own thread, just hop on here and share a picture of your chick, making sure it's at least 4 weeks old before asking gender. Me and @Jetblack2004
are almost 100% on genders for chicks 4 weeks+.
So feel free to ask lots of questions regarding gender. We do NOT identify breeds, only gender. However, if anyone out there is good at identifying breeds, please let us know, we would love to have your help!

Thanks!

My girls are about 6 months old and we have just started to find some eggs! We aren't sure which of the 3 birds they are coming from, but this one has started to behave very differently. The chicken that used to let us hold it has become a little aggressive (we are also merging two new girls from another flock right now). This morning it sounded like it was crowing! I just can't tell if it's a rooster or a hen, so I am turning to the experts!!
Thanks!

Male specific hackle and saddle feathers. It's a boy.

I have been reviewing the many posts in this thread with interest because I have a Buff Orpington and I'm trying to determine its gender. This guy/gal was hatched on Jan. 13, so it's about 27 weeks old. I got four chicks and this one is markedly larger than the others. It has a much larger comb and wattle, and it looks to me like it has spurs that are starting to develop. Additionally, it does not crouch in submission like the other hens do when I pet it.

The main things that are missing from the rooster equation is lack of crowing, lack of major difference in feathers from its sisters, and I haven't seen any mating activity going on.

Would LOVE any thoughts from you experts!

She is a pullet. A male would have long, thin, pointed saddle feathers drooping down either side of the base of the tail. A male would also have pointed hackle feathers around the neck. And at 27 weeks old, a male would most likely be crowing. She is a big girl and with that big red comb, I would suspect she is top of the pecking order too!

Oh, and the occasional hen will grow spurs. I have a Welsummer with pretty big spurs, but she lays eggs!
