Hi,

I am wondering if anyone can confirm if one of our hens is a rooster? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry for image rotation, something is going wrong with my PC.

One of them has a crown 10-15x the size of the others and the only aggressive one of the three. All aged within a week of each other.

Yep, you have a cockerel.

I'm wondering if anyone could help with gender predictions for a couple of my chicks.

This first pic is my pair of Silver Laced Wyandottes. I feel like the one on the right is a roo and the left is a pullet but I am new at this so any feed back would be very much appreciated.

This pictures is of the one I'm thinking is a roo. It's legs are MUCH thicker then any of the chicks and his feathers are taking a while longer to come in compared to the other silver laced. It's comb is also very red and thick compared to the other.

This pic is one of my Americanas.

This is my 2nd Americana. I bought them all at the same time and was told they were all a week old but as you can see the sizes in them are very different.

Thank you in advance to anyone who reads/responds to this. I appreciate it very much.

just a general question. when i purchased my chicks the place told me the chicks were sexed and that it's 96% accurate. how can chicks be sexed at a day or two old? is this just a ploy to sell more??? i will be quite disappointed if one, never mind more, turn out to be male. thanks.

There are several accurate ways and dozens of inaccurate ways. I hope your seller was honest with you because most places say 90%. For sexlinks, it's almost 100%.

And the majority of chicks are vent sexed. Sexlinks are color sexed and a few commercial layer types are wing sexed (feather growth rate).

i went to a local Agway in my area. i hope they are reliable. fingers crossed. at least i know there is a way to do it and i wasn't being fed "you know what"

Agway almost certainly got the chicks from one of the big hatcheries and they hire professionals.
