Not Sure If You've Got A Pullet Or Cockerel? Click Here! Thread 2

The combs on all of them look pale, but I think you have to wait a bit to be able to sex. White Araucana will be especially tricky, but so far the comb looks female (single ridge down the center). I see the uneven pattern on the one mix you mentioned, but I see similar coloring on the other but seems more of an all over pattern and both have pale combs, so think you have to wait. (It's possible all 3 are pullets.) Can you do update pics in a week?

Someone else suggested I may have lucked out with all pullets. I am cautiously hopeful. My last batch of OEs turned out to be 2 roos and 1 pullet. It would be nice to even that out. I will repost in a couple of weeks. I wanted to post earlier, but I held off til now. Usually by 7 weeks I have more of an idea. It's really hard with the white Araucana, and not much better with the reds.

I would not bet the farm on it, but I am pretty sure. At 9 wks, males are usually bright red in the comb and have prominent wattles (unless it's an EE type that does not get wattles). Also, red males get darker patches of red on the upper part of the wings. I never say I am SURE, because there have been cases of late bloomers, where they did not show signs until later... but usually by 9 weeks you can be fairly certain. I would keep this bird if I were you! :)
I am having five, 2.5 months babies 2 of them are cockerel and 2 are pullet. One of my cockerel has started crowing and is having a big red wattle while i am expecting crow from another cockerel within 1 week as he is having a big red wattle and trying to crow. I am pretty sure of 2 pullets but i am not sure about this one and i am expecting a pullet as her wattle is pretty short. Thanks for your co operation instead thank you very much. And to asure you none of my baby is EE

The pics in the shadows look like a younger bird. Are you sure you got the ages correct? If the 3 pics in shade are really 9.5 wks old, then it is a pullet.

Really shows how lighting impact the pics!

Thanks!
I guess the grass pic doesn't have a size comparison which probably doesn't help, either. "She" probably has some bantam in her mix, too, as she's kinda squat. I'm very sure on the dates. I couldn't post the 8 week one right away while the site was down and I took the three on the roost this morning.

(She's my only black bird and only barnyard mix so I'm sure it's the same bird. :) )

Thank you! That is what I am thinking as well!
Ok so found out something new today!!! You can easily tell the sex of your Brown leghorns once they start feathering in because pullets will get salmon breasted feathers while cockerels will have black ones. So my two are pullets! Yeah!

Sultan advice?

I have two "fancy chickens" that were given to me. I'm pretty sure they're sultans with the look and the extra toe. I have had them for 8 1/2 weeks and I don't think they were very old when I got them.
Can you tell me about how old they look and if they are pullets or cockerels (I am learning the correct wording! Lol)

The pink band towards the back in the photos is scared of everything and the red band towards the front is very sweet and calm).
