Not sure, but I'm still leaning toward cockerel because of those saddle feathers. Been searching pictures, and pullets don't seem to get them.

Yes I know the saddle feathers have me puzzled to. They are new so will have to see as they grow out if the black in them stays thin or pencils out like the rest of the tail...Lol. It's just like my batch to have a difficult one in the bunch

This chick is a black sex link, so should be female...but... She feathered in slow and has a good size comb- more orange then red though. Here she is at 4.5 weeks and then again at almost 6 weeks. I'm kinda thinking roo? But looking for other opinions. Thanks!!

4 week old Welsummer chick. I know still young, but my experience is that orange spiky comb this young and no tail feathers is strongly predictive of boy. All the other chicks have long tail feathers. This chick had a strong dark V on head at hatch which I thought meant pullet (I ordered a pullet) but not feeling confident at all now.

Is this a boy or girl? IT always behaves more boisterous and it's tail is much much perky-er than the other chickens.

She has mostly black feathers, except on the chest area the feathers are barred- similar to a barred rock's feathers. I thought only males would get any barred feathers?
