Not Sure If You've Got A Pullet Or Cockerel? Click Here! Thread 2

They're the same gender but their wattles make me nervous. They "could" be male, but I do not have any autralorps. So, I can't say with any certainty

Polish = ???? You may need to post the pic on the Polish thread for the experts.
RIR = one facing forward is a definate female. Can't see the other's face.

Smidge -????. Nothing in the feather color from this angle says male, but a clear pic of the face would help.

Poppy= feather color looks female but a good face shot would help confirm.
Sorry not experienced enough to say about the others but smidge looks like a light brown leghorn pullet to me. I have 2 and you can be sure they are pullets when they feather in because the female have golden feathers on their chests while the males are a blackish color

She's got an interesting feather pattern, but I'd say female.
:thumbsup Love this pic

Thanks. The feather pattern had us thinking she was a rooster for a while, but the rest of her is definitely looking girly! Lol

Posted pics of this blue Marans a week or so ago, think there were a couple mixed guesses. Someone did say pullet. At almost 8 weeks, I'm finally sure she's a pullet. :yesss:

And just for cuteness, with her BCM cockerel on the right, same age serama in the middle.
Totally unrelated, but i think he believes he belongs to them. lol!

Yes. I agree she looks like a pullet. I had a blue Marans male & his comb was that size at only 2.3 weeks old.

My Australorp had slightly larger wattles and comb than that at 5 wks. She is 13 wks now, and I finally feel pretty confident she is a pullet. Comb is not red and no sign of male saddle feathers. I think the hatchery Lorps just develop this way. I expect yours are both pullets as well. Sure would like to see what a cockerel looks like at this age!

Thanks! Their combs have not grown much since this picture (about 2 weeks) so I am feeling more confident they are pullets - I'll give it a few more weeks ... !

Good to know. My English orps males get HUGE red-pink combs by 8 weeks & the females' combs & wattles stay small. I agree that yours look more female but the wattles were throwing me off. Perhaps yours will also mature quickly in other areas - like egg laying. My Orps take 6-9 mo to lay an egg, so it's a huge benefit if your australorps start a few months sooner.

Thanks! From what I've seen I've been thinking Leghorn myself (she seems to fit the pictures I've seen) ... here's a better picture I was able to get ...

Guess I'll know for sure if/when I get eggs ... white or green/blue! She's just slightly younger than the Australorp she's with here but much smaller (are they a smaller breed?) She does have a golden chest so that makes me very hopeful! Her tail is huge so I was worried ...

They are the biggest 2 chickens I have currently ... they have outgrown the others by far ... maybe they are maturing quicker (hopefully eggs come earlier than 6-9 months!) ... glad to hear they look more female! I've had them 8 1/2 weeks so they are at least 10 weeks I say at minimum. They definitely don't have huge combs but the wattles are little bigger ... this her this morning and there isn't much comb difference I don't think ...

Thanks for the input!! Not sure I'll know on Scrambled (the Polish) until I see an egg or hear a crow from what I've read! They are tough I hear!

Here are face shots of Smidge and Poppy ... had someone suggest Smidge is brown leghorn instead of EE and I have been thinking the same thing ...
