Not Sure If You've Got A Pullet Or Cockerel? Click Here! Thread 2

@junebuggena
I have a 5 week old white easter egger with gray spots. Up until now I assumed female even though I'm not particularly good at sexing this breed. I noticed it's starting to get a rust kind of spots on its shoulder blades. I though it was bleeding at first bit it's just the color. Does this guarentee it's a roo or can a girl have this color variation as well? Either way it doesn't matter but I'd like to know.. :)

Picture? It's possible for females to have red through their shoulders. There is particular shade of red that only males acquire. It can be very difficult for an untrained eye to see the difference.

Sorry that I don't have a pic but I have a silkie (roo?) That has head feathers round like a hens but his/her chest is all out if you know what I mean. Comb is about the same size at my other two. He/she is 5-6 months old.

With Silkies, it can be very difficult to distinguish the male feathering from the silkied feathers. Pictures are needed, and there still is a very good chance we get it wrong. Silkies are hard.

Hey everyone! 17 week Black Australorp...hen or rooster? We are starting to get suspicious. She has always been very vocal and louder than the others.

The rust is hard to see right now because its coming in st the shoulder blade almost underneath her wings and on the back a bit.. pretty sure she is a he.. :(
