Not Sure If You've Got A Pullet Or Cockerel? Click Here! Thread 2

Here's a picture of Newt (far left) with his/her sisters. You can see there is a distinct difference in the other Campines. (The silvers are Egyptian Fayoumis.)

Such pretty chickens!

I see what you mean. Newt has a more vibrant color. I don't have any experience with this breed to guess, but I may have a few ideas you could try.

With my young chicks, I can often tell by their "feel." When I pick up a pullet, she'll feel lighter & sort of bony, but her brother will feel more solid, meaty, & muscular. This only works if they're all the same age & breed. (If you can't catch them during the day, just wait until night to gently lift them off the roost one at a time.)

Likewise, you could compare comb size & color. My Sebright female still had no comb or color at 10 weeks, but pics of 10 week old male Sebrights all had a tiny pink combs.

The good news is that at some point in time you will surely know the gender.

I thought for sure I would know by now! Haha. If I went by those 2 things, I would lean toward cockerel absolutely. Newt is a bit meatier, with the noticeable difference in comb and wattles. Our Campines all have the same hatch date of 8/28, so we should be seeing eggs soon-ish!

I held this bird up to our (currently in bachelor pad jail-bars between them) Ameraucana rooster, Tonks, who is usually very "opinionated" on a bird's sex. He had nothing. Tonks and Newt just stared at each other, and had a nice little small chat. Then one of our big reds came to see Tonks and he lost it...doing his wing dance, chattering away.

This is a puzzle for me, but Newt stays male or female, so I'm having a good time here. :D

Hi everyone i would love some help sexing my slw. I have hatched these 4 little beauties 6 weeks ago and would appreciate any input
