Usually she is very happy and hangs around the other ducks but for the past day or two she has been staying away kind of off in her own corner… they are about 6 months old and I just started finding eggs this week so I thought maybe she’s broody somehow already but I don’t think that’s the case she doesn’t sit in one certain spot or act like she’s protecting a nest at all. Then I thought maybe she’s egg bound so I gave her some calcium and had her sit in warm water but she doesn’t have a hard belly or anything I just don’t know what else to do I don’t want to lose her :( even when I bring treats she is reluctant to come get some and just sits in her corner (or stands sometimes) she is drinking just fine but I haven’t seen her eat.

Is it possible to isolate her temporarily to observe if she is both eating and drinking? I have a separate cage for isolating a chicken in case of injury or sickness. I have saved a couple of birds that way. Sometimes they just need a little stress-free time away from the others to heal and recover. And if the bird dies, maybe it was a good thing that you took them out of the flock to prevent possible spread of the sickness.

I’m sorry to hear that your beautiful lady is unwell! Could she have eaten something she shouldn’t have?
It’s possible, we keep them in the garage on cold days although I’ve made sure there’s nothing on the ground for them to get into she could have found something I missed. This morning I brought some treats down and she did seem interested and took some thankfully!

I think we are going to do that, we have something we can use to split their space. I did see her eat a little today thankfully but I also believe she is low in the pecking order and maybe just prefers her own space :/ at least I’m hoping that’s all it is
