Not sure what’s wrong

I put my waterer on a landscaping brick. It keeps it up high enough that it doesn't get too dirty. But, they still manage to get pine shavings in it.
Good for you for noticing that they weren't getting their water!
Haha yes mine is up on a landscape brick also.its the perfect height.my daughter is in college and the chicks have become my babies now.I spend more of my free time in the coop than I do in my house lol.I’m new to this this year And when I find out that I have done something wrong to make their life more uncomfortable I feel absolutely terrible but I know it’s a learning process and I’ve learned a ton most of it from reading the posts on this website.

It definitely is a learning process, and no need to feel horrible. At least you caught it before it was too late, good job! :thumbsup

Yes, chickens being creatures of habit... and well, CHICKEN... does mean they will sometimes be afraid of new things. Having some adventurous birds helps the others to adjust easier, but I usually find that in larger groups. Smaller groups usually seem to on the more cautious side for me.

Being able to spend that kind of time with your birds will give you so much insight and make it much easier to detect anomalies. Plus it's simply great! :wee

I feel as though dehydration may have contributed to and intensified that girls head shaking. But I don't believe you actually solved it. If it's been going on for a while, it may very well be genetic. Which if your just getting eggs may be no big deal. I would NOT allow her to breed though.

Really appreciate the update! :highfive:

I'm new to this too! Always learning something!
