Took my cat to the vet today to get checked for some seizures he's been having, he had them for awhile last year and when it got cool he quit having em so I didnt think any of it, He started having em again so I took him in
This is definetly not the brightest person i've ever met (not my normal vet some new guy there)
I specifically told them at the beginning, I only wanted a routine exam ($40) and NOTHING else done unless I was told and how much it would be. (I dont have a job yet, 16, and I use my social security for my phone bill, Animal feed bill, and other personal care items)
They told me I would be told and thats all they'd be doing. They tell me he's under weight even though they pulled the scale out and never put him on the darn thing, This cat gets hard food choice daily and a can of wet food a day, sometimes 2. He looks pregnant when looking at him! Weighed him myself when I got him and he comes up to about 9 1/2 LB's. He's 2 years old and isnt a very big cat, medium'ish
So for the problem that was "wrong" Is fleas supposely, (he gets flea bathes and stays inside almost 24/7). that its causing swelling in the spinal cord and when he moves it pulls at the brain and triggers a "seizure" like reaction (kinda like hitting your knee and kicking) So they told me he needed a Depo medrol shot every 2-3 months. $21, No problem they told me and how much it cost. They just left out the $50 blood test they did without my consent so now I owe my brother a nice $40. Which they told me right afterwards he didnt need, But great news everything on the test came out good asides from a bit low CHLO.
Oh and I guess I could agree with them he's under weight if their going by his species listed on the paper as "CANINE" He also said he doesnt know anything about the Swelling seizure like reactions (w/e you wanna name it) Never studied it, Seriously is this guy the vet they gave me for today?
Ok maybe it wasnt soo bad, but this guy seriously didnt seem very bright, and I am NOT satisfied with the results I got, so im waiting a few weeks to see if the shot does any good, if it doesnt im getting a new vet
But yeah asides from the - $21 shot, I paid about $100 for my vet to tell me my cat has fleas?!?!
