not to rant but

I haven't driven in almost a week and I don't plan on driving anymore than absolutely neccesary. I live at the end of a dirt road. I'm stocking up on groceries and supplies for two weeks at the time. The last time I left my house was to pick up my chicks at the PO. If anyone wants to see us, they come here. We have lots of company lately

If we would all organize and not drive anywhere for three days the prices would go down. It needs to be a national effort that everyone is commited too.

DH drives a lumber truck and I promise you this is going to trickle down to everything we buy...groceries, clothing...everything. Everything in every store is put there with a diesal truck.

The next depression is almost here. We are all going to have jobs and money, but everything is going to cost too much to afford. I really believe this. I am putting in a huge garden this year. We have plans to buy another milk goat and start back raising pigs.

Alot of other people are thinking along the lines that I am. You can look around online and see things about it everywhere. There is even talk of a call for people to plant depression era Victory Gardens again. I think everyone in this country needs to take a HARD look at this issue. We are fixing to head down a very hard path as a nation.

I used to jump out of airplanes;was my job, was ordered to do so and really didn't have much input in the decision-making process as to whether I would go or not go...GERONIMOOOOOOOO!

I'm working on a design of electricity generating wind turbine based on a three thousand year old Persian windmill design that was used to grind spelt. I've located a book(now out-of-print,) that utilizes a shop-built alternator, that will produce 125 VAC at 20 amperes; in a 3 knot wind. If the wind speed increased at multiples of 3 knots,Ohm's Law stipulates that so shall the current increase exponentially if the voltage remained the same. This is just a simple deduction of Ohm's Law and doesn't account for losses due to resistance,attentuation,phase-shift angle, eddy currents, etc. Here,in Florida,we enjoy "net-metering." If a household generates excess electricity, then the local utility has to "buy back" that power at the rate that the company charges for that same electricity. At the end of each billing cycle, the Net-Meter reading is taken to determine if the power company owes you or you owe the power company.

The average daily ambient wind speed at 30 feet height,in my backyard, using a wireless anemometer, mounted on a dead branch of a pecan tree for the past 15 months has been 6 knots.

I'm already retro-fitting my farm tractor with two in-line DC motors. I'm waiting for some metal to be delivered so I can fabricate then weld battery brackets to the tractor chassis. DC motors are expensive, but are very powerful and have factorable low-end torque compared to AC motors. Also,I can use an existing photovoltaic charging system for the batteries.

Wow! I guess I best shut my pie hole for now!

*I used to think that, too, GwenFarms-- Not so sure now. Remember how little flying and driving was done after 9/11? For like 9 days?? They've got China to take up the slack now. . . . They'll be more than glad to buy whatever we don't-- AND strengthen their relationship with the suppliers. . . .
