Not too bad updates on pg. 2

Nope nothing, what is the tap test? it is day 21 right now so... theres still hope! After the last hatch I cleaned and sterilized the incubator so hopefully that wasnt the promblem

My eggs from Jen are due to hatch today, but no peeps yet. I know they're still alive, it's just the waiting part that's killing me! I had three out of 8 make it, so far. I hope your two make it! Her birds are so beautiful!

The tap test is when you *gently* tap on the egg and wait for a response. I know a lot of people don't do this until they are internally pipped and listen for an answering cheep, but I do it before that, and feel for a vibration as the chick moves in response. Hens and chicks communicate before the chick actually hatches, and since you are momma, you can communicate with the chick too.

I use just the tip of my fingernail on the large (air cell) end of the egg. Just tap a couple times and listen for any sounds-which mean they've internally pipped or feel for vibrations signaling the chick is moving... Hope this helps, I know I can't be the only one to be doing this!

Still nothing from the ksacres eggs, so I've decided it is time to give up on them (their on day 25).

BUT! I was sound asleep and from the bator I hear a LOUD cheep cheep cheep cheep. I ran over and their was a Dipsy egg pipped and rocking all over the place! The surprising thing is, is that that particular egg was laid on the 23 and didn't go into the bator until the 4th! I'll keeep updates going all day and post pics as soon as I can!

I was just hours late moving a group to the hatcher today and there were two 'early on Day 19 chicks' scrunching around between the turner bars (thank goodness they didn't get mashed --- Silkies too, by the way)).
Merry Christmas and Good Luck with the rest of the hatch!

Lisa, those Silkie eggs of yours are just rearing to go. The ones that I got from you all started hatching out a day early, both the ones in the incubator and the ones under broody Betty. So, I know it wasn't just me being off on measuring the incubator temperature. They all wanted to get out of those little shells, be cute, and start running around.

As of now we have two that are between pipping and zipping and one other pipped and lots of rocking!
