not wise to antagonize your roosters

I am bookmarking this thread! My 9-year old is generally really good with the animals, BUT he is always wanting to play ninja with the roos. They're only about 5 1/2 months old and are just starting to get puffy about it. Hopefully this will clue him in, he never belives me until after the fact. He's a little hard-head, lord only knows where he got that from.

This just happened yesterday to my son...except he was NOT throwing karate kicks...he was throwing grass toward the rooster and hens for them to eat...the rooster took it as a threat and same thing...chased him all around the yard. My 5 year old no longer goes near the rooster.

I know I am a killjoy, but kid teases rooster, rooster sees it as a threat to his flock or a threat to his dominance of his flock, rooster reacts instinctively, somebody posts on here "Rooster attacked my kid", we all respond (and I do too) "Off with his head", rooster is rehomed or in freezer camp. What a horrible rooster!

I strongly believe you protect your kids from the roosters that attack or threaten them, no matter why they attack, but if you have kids and a rooster, please try to prevent your kid from provoking the rooster. it really is dangerous to your kid.

I was attacked by a rooster when I was about 4. I still remember it. I was gathering eggs and he was on the roost. He came at my face and left two good deep scratches and I had never antagonized a roo in my life. That was the last time I gathered eggs for a long time! Oh and he sure was tasty too. He was the only one I wasn't upset about plucking!
