Save the chocolate for yourself...don't waste the yummy stuff. Rats love it too but it doesn't get rid of them. Our pets have grabbed and devoured many unattended chocolate bars to no ill effect......

i get migraines from chocolate, its why i don't mind giving it up
I'm waiting for it to warm up enough for the black rat snakes to come out. Although they eat some of our eggs, they'll also help with rats.
The nasty neighbors letting some rats loose wouldn't surprise me. When they were told to move, they released all their pet rabbits, chickens, guineas, and who knows what else. Its crazy!!
Someone gave me a recipe for something that may help. At this point, I'm willing to try anything.

I have wharf rats here I use 110 size body grip traps set in the runways they use if I do not stake the trap down I have to go find them they are half the size of a normal muskrat building weasel boxes and using regular old snap traps works well too
get a 55 gallon steel drum and put an inch of feed in the bottom. place it close to steps or a board, anything they can get on to get to the top of it. they jump in and can't jump out. you still have to kill them in the barrel but you can catch dozens at a time, and never have to reset it.
