Not Your Usual Suet Pudding - Help Wanted

I'm beginning to lose faith. Nothing looks or sounds like what grandma used to make. It's starting to appear that either the recipe was all her own and died with her, or it was highly regional and I'll never find it. Suet dumplings sort of sound like it, but what she made was one large loaf, and was not pastry like.

Of course, my memories of it are over 60 years old, so I may be way off base here.
