Like many of you, I spend my days covered in poo and sweat, so when I get the chance to go out, I savour it. Last night Eddie Izzard FINALLY came to Atlanta. I bought tickets through the fan club months ago and was sooo jazzed. I spent nearly two hours getting good and gussied up. We decided to have dinner at a quite reputable restaurant near the venue. The meal was good, I thought. About half way through the show, I start feeling bad, really bad. Not long after that, we're leaving early because I can't stop ralphing. I painted the interstate all the way home, then puked in my front yard too. BF seemed to be o.k. until about half an hour after bed time. Suddenly I hear some unseemly noises coming from his side of the bed and he starts complaining of not feeling well. Aside from an hour and a half stint in the bathroom, he seems to have come through the ordeal well enough. I still feel like crap. I can't believe that with all the animals I have, I've never gotten sick from a lack of hygiene, but one idiot in a restaurant doesn't wash his hands after using the bathroom and I'm turning inside out.

I am so sorry about your night. That does stink!!! We also have had that happen and it always seems to happen on the nights we have something great planned.

Sorry to hear that! I had food poisoning once, my DH had it at the same time, we sat on the toilet and held a bucket! We were so sick. Thank Goodness we have 2 bathrooms!
It was the day of my Son's 4th birthday party, we didn't get hit till people starting coming! Thank Goodness, My Mom, and MIL was there to take over, and the party went well!
We think it was the turkey lunch meat we ate the night before we were the only ones who ate it and the only ones to be sick!
So I feel your pain, what a bummer.
Did you and BF eat the same food?
Hope you feel better soon,
Brenda

Ick, I can't imagine going through that with children in tow. We shared and appetizer. It was just hummus, so I'm guessing it really was a hand washing issue. Some people just don't have a grasp on how germs work. I've actually talked to a few guys on construction sites who don't 'believe' in germs. Of course, I don't see any of hem splashing around in the porta johns, so maybe that's just their version of tough talk.

Oh goodness! I'm sorry! Hope you feel better soon! Meanwhile, drink lots of gatoraide to keep your electrolytes up and keep yourself hydrated.

You should file a report with the Health Department so that whomever made you simply sick, doesnt kill someone with a compromised immune system or a child or elderly person. I despise people who are so careless with the preparation of other peoples food, some inconsiderate jerk made my son, "Sticky" (Baby name) so sick when he was 5, that he nearly died. Stick is special needs, and is just a little more fragile than the rest of us, and that illness took a lot out of him.
Call them, you could save a life.
Hope you feel better soon.

I totally agree! Call the health dept and let them know asap. Someone with a compromised system could get even sicker than you and you bf did. You might just save a life by making a call.

I am so sorry that your night was ruined. I have had that happen to me as well. Stinks big time

At an absolute minimum, call the restaurant manager/owner.
Please, don't accept the "cupon for a free meal".

The manager has a right to know something is up with the hummus so he(she) can remove it from the menu if it's bad, and/or beat the chef about the head and face for letting it make it to the floor.
After alerting the restaurant go straight to the health dept and report it. The are required to investigate reports of poor santiation. (Whether they actually do or not....that is another topic...)

I would go absolutely nutz if I found out someone got sick from food I served and didn't tell me about it!
