Nova Scotia, Canada. Any other East Coasters??

Howdy all ! Just wondering if there are any fellow Nova Scotian's on here that are ordering chicks from Triple J Farm's in Alberta this Spring and would be interested in going in on the order together ? I want a few chicks, but the minimum order is 25 and I don't need that many !

Hey there! I'm new to BYC, raising chickens AND Nova Scotia. I live near Yarmouth and have 10 white leghorns and am anxiously awaiting the hatching of 10 black Australorps. We moved here in November after having talked about it for 10 years and we are loving it! Does anyone here sell their eggs? I read that you have to report sales by the dozen to the government and give them $.3975 per dozen sold. Is my understanding right? My neighbor comes over for a dozen eggs about once a week....

Hi all... Near Yarmouth, NS here ! I have 5 RIR's, 6 BR's, 2 Black Star's and a BA rooster ! Glad to see a few folks from nearby on this forum !

Aoxa, what type of frizzles do you have ?

Hey Windy Bay! Im in Lower Eel Brook, whereabouts near Yarmouth are you? I'm new to the area, chickens and BYC. I have 10 white leghorns right now and am waiting for some BAs from Digby mid April. Would love to connect with people around here since we are new to the province.

I'm not sure where you heard this, but I certainly wouldn't be telling anyone anything about selling eggs :)

I'm just outside of town about 7 minutes - past the hospital ! Nice to meet you. Where did you live prior to Eel Brook ?

Hello, I'm from PEI.

Good to see this thread of Maritimers!

Sounds like we will have a lot of snow and wind tomorrow. . . another White Juan, some people are saying.

How are your hens laying this time of year? My 12 hens are on strike and I don't know how to negotiate an egg. ;) I even purchased 3 new nesting boxes at Coop and that didn't help a bit!

I have some people waiting for silver pencilled plymouth rock eggs, so please be patient. No doubt that they will start laying soon.

Stay warm and safe tomorrow.

Your birds are GORGEOUS! Lucky you!

Hope everybody got through the storm okay :hugs

Thank you MaddiesMum.

Still very windy here. Roads are closed and winds gusting 70-100 km/h. My biggest chore today will be to reach the chicken coop with fresh water. Otherwise all is fine. Lost power for 1.5 hours yesterday afternoon, but blessings to Maritime Electric workers for working through the storm. There are still hundreds of places that don't have power now, so we are the lucky ones.
