November 2016 Hatch-a-long!!

Pics
Thank you for confirming Cynthia! I was thinking of leaving them in a few more days to be sure, but I think I will get them out tomorrow morning now.

Im curious: has anyone hatched eggs after day18 with a heat lamp?? Since they need to be still I thought it might be possible to put them in a rubber mate with a heat lamp over it at the right temperature and to keep the humidity up with a wet rag and try hatching that way??

I've never heard of anyone successfully doing that. If the eggs made it to day 18, then you're almost there. Humidity is tough to regulate in something open & temp will depend on location to light, color of plastic tote, distance from light, room's air currents & fluctuating room temp., & so many other factors. You want to avoid actually getting the eggs wet. The water can push bacteria from the shell into the egg with the embryo. The incubator would do a better job of controlling all the variables.

Some people have built incubators out of household materials with varying success. (I'm one of them.) The cooler-bator design actually works better than most styrofoam incubators sold in stores.

1 BCM is out! 1 more has pipped, but not in/near egg sack (but still 'upright'). Any advice on that? I see a tiny speck of blood, but it does look like it can breathe through it.

And, power is still scheduled to go out in 3 hours. We have strung a very long series of extension cords from an unaffected neighbor to try to keep the bator going. If that doesn't work, I may have to bundle them up and take them to our church to plug in.
