November/December "Hatch-a-Long"

Ok guys so yesterday this egg had lots of very good viens now today this is all I can see it it is that a good thing?

My sweet husband has worked for 2 days building a covered porch for the bantie coop! isn't he sweet...I need to post a pictures of it...we painted the coops too! looking good! AND out of 12 Maran eggs 11 are good and strong...10 more days for them oh oh and I candled the wheaton eggs...only 1 has a detached air cell...maybe I will be lucky and get a chick or two...blue splash...I would so love that!
Very nice coop just got done with my duck house about a month age hard work but worth it!

well they would have to spike over 110 degrees for that to be a problem...but I've candled white eggs that I didn't see veins in until the 7 or 8th day...unless....they aren't fertile...the roosters are slowing down now...the girls are in control of the fertilizing and they can remain fertile for months...but 2 of my sexlinks last eggs weren't fertile...it's just that time of year...

if the yolk is attached that's a good sign...you should know with in a few days :hugs
I actually no longer usually do a full on candle till day 14 or sometimes 18 before lockdown. If I just want to get an idea of what is going on, I leave them in the turner, take my 265 lumen super bright flashlight and gently set it down over the top of a few or even all the eggs - only to confirm there is veining. Other than that I don't disturb them. I have been having 100% hatches of my own eggs since I started doing this, along with upgrading my bator with an Incukit. Someone told me a while back that each time before 14 days that you risk damaging the tiny blood vessels inside etc. By day 14 the veins across the air cell have solidified the top of the membrane and everything is much "stronger". This is especially important with shipped eggs that may have loose or rolling air cells. I can't swear its true, but it makes sense and I have had very good luck since following it. I have still gotten the occasional pipped vein and or ruptured yolk - but generally they still hatch out just fine and seem stronger.

Just a quick check in.....Good Morning..................
Deanna. I am going to show your video to my old hen Sweetie, maybe she will get the idea and
help give our Dane a good rub down.................

Congratulations for all the new hatches.............
