November/December "Hatch-a-Long"

It's day 23 with the broody and none have hatched.... Is this normal?
I'm far from an expert since we have only hatched once with a broody...but ours took over 21 days. It was her first hatch and I think she sometimes left the nest a little longer than most. I think just like an incubator can take longer if there is a temp dip, same goes for if the eggs cool under the hen. Like I said, not an expert but I THINK that's accurate.

well out of 10 Marans eggs I bought 11 that the breeder sent are going to lock down tomorrow!!! full of chick!!

I GOT A CHICK!!!! EEEEKKSSSSS!!! Went to go close the coop door and noticed a cracked egg. I was scared it was another egg she had cracked and eaten but when we moved her we noticed a white fluff butt.

Hopefully the chick stimulates the others to come out.

Im really loving reading your adventures.
How do you know which eggs to lock down?
On day 18 you candle them and those who show movement or are progressing as they should you LD. It helps to draw the aircell and label (with an X) the lowest dip in the cell. That's most likely where the chick will pip out of, then you wait til it zips, pops out and dries.
