November/December "Hatch-a-Long"

Finally figured out my temp dilemma! Turns out my new thermometer was incorrect. Finally got 20 eggs set! Here's a pic of my eggs! So excited! 21 long days to go!!

Also want to share some pics of my now 6 week old little roo. Daddy was a beautiful big RIR rooster and we THOUGHT mama was a red sex link. BUT now that he has feathered out some it is obvious that mama was one of our Barred Rock hens. He has barring all over in red but if you look closely you can tell the barring is black around his neck and on the long tail feathers that are starting to come in. Such a pretty combination. I think he will be SO handsome when he is full grown. We are holding onto this one for sure!!

According to my sister, today is day 21. I need to find something to do to distract me so I'm not trying to check the eggs every ten minutes...

S1 is ready for her closeup!

S1 was her egg name.. Silkie #1. Now taking name ideas for S1..

I KNOW silkies can't be sexed.. but I tried the laying on her back (leg kick) method and looked at her wing feathers and I swear signs point to female.. but I guess I could still be proven wrong!!

she has the same feet, toes, skin and feathered feet as her mom (her mom is Teriyaki, another silkie, not the broody hen) so no doubts about her breed (the roo's breed was a mystery). The flash kind of washed her out in photo 2, but in the first one you can see she's kinda gray with a yellow head. What color will she be?

Silkie #2 is due today! I'm giving her privacy, but I'm so anxioussssss!!!
