November/December "Hatch-a-Long"

well my Marans eggs arrived today...the mail lady brought them to me she was so worried all weekend about them but couldn't deliver them Saturday because of our Montana weather we're having here in N. Texas...but she wanted me to know that they were in the truck inside the mail warehouse bldg....so I'm hoping they didn't freeze solid!! it got above freezing today woo hoo....34 degrees

The older chicks have taken over my closet... I didn't have spare feeders and whatnot, so I improvised. As soon as I get paid this week and someone is going out of town, I'll have them pick a couple up for me.

I have an egg that has punctured the membrane it seems but I have not seen progress on the edge of the shell is somewhat yellow - dark brown. of eggs I had to go (18) 11 were white, 10 chicks have come out, the 7 was brown and took 2 ... for four hours has started the 22 day .... What do you think REGARDING THE ISSUE?

good luck Heidisgran, when you chicks hatch, you will have so many, just know the ones that do hatch are healthy, and give them love.
well thank you...araucana's carry a death gene and these were shipped so I'll be happy how ever many hatch! I have 15 chicks varying ages but all under 3 months in the house due to our weather here!! an incubator full of eggs due to hatch through out the rest of the month...yes I'm busy!!
all my chickens that are old enough to stay out in any weather have done perfectly fine! I'm so pleased! my husband built the coops so well that their water was only iced over a few nights when it got into the teens!!
I've been taking the younger ones out during the warmer part of the day ( 39-40 degrees) then bringing them in for the night...the room they are in ( my dining room

) is kept 60ish so they can acclimate...as hard as it is we do try not to baby them....so they can survive without a lot of artificial help.

Yes Araucana are harder to hatch because of their cheek feathers, too I hear. They sure lay pretty eggs, I have about 10 americanas currently, 8 of which I hatched. I like the shades. My americanas have cheek feathers too.
