Post away... I always love seeing silkie pics. My next venture (in spring) will be cochins, and possibly mixing cochin/silkie. They're so beautiful.

Should I gather the chicks as they hatch to ensure she stays on the eggs until all hatch, then, at night, place the rest in with her? I'd hate to risk her walking away from such a large batch after only hatching 3-4.

Also, do they push the pipping eggs towards the front or the side as they begin to hatch? That's what she did with the pipping egg.

Lastly, do they push to the side eggs that they "know" aren't fertile? I found a cold egg pushed to the side last night and upon candling saw it wasn't fertilized. Idk if they've got those smarts, but maybe.

I have heard that some think they do do that but who knows...if she isn't finished hatching with in a few days then candle the eggs to see if there is any reason to first but that's what I would do either take the eggs she leaves and hatch them then give them back...which might be a risk....or take the chicks until the hatch is complete...the chicks will be imprinted and so there won't be a risk they won't listen to her when you give them back! and that's a great idea let them sleep together...I have done that when the last to hatch wasn't able to keep up with the older ones that first day I'd keep it then give it to mama at night...by the next day it was able to move out of the way when she was scratching...
she almost buried it!!!

now she messaged me that if I contact her again she'll contact ebay that I'm harassing her!!!! there is something wrong with her!!!
well I bit!! I messaged her back...just had to....I said ebay recommends we communicate and she should do what she needs to do.

mind you all I asked is that she rethink her packaging! :/   not money back, no negative feed back...nothing!! just some recommendations for packing!!:th

I got hens that were not healthy like the seller said. So I got on a FB page that we're both a part of to ask advice about making them healthy. I never mentioned her name, which I could have, but she kept sending me messages that I was making her look bad and what a horrible person I was. She reported me to the group admin, and reported one of my pictures (of a chicken) to FB for being offensive! Some people just can't handle criticism. :he
