November/December "Hatch-a-Long"

don't forget the ones that aren't moving aren't rested up yet! the others are getting into position...come on little chickletsJust finished my Pre-lockdown candle. At least 5 of my eggs are showing great movement. Some, I see no movement but great veins and it honestly looks like the eggs are just entirely FULL. If the chicks are big enough to fill the egg, they probably can't do a lot of moving. The 2 leghorn/leghorn crosses are both doing great. Of course they are easy to see, because they're white. I still have one mystery egg that is just a light tan color but is SO hard to see thru. I can't see ANYTHING thru that egg. It's worse than my dark browns or my green/blues!! Interested to see what/if anything hatches from that egg. Also, got super lucky this evening. After candle I turned my light back on (homemade light bulb incubator) and my bulb blew! Had that happened overnight, very well could have lost the hatch this close to the end!That would have been B-A-D!!!!! Luckily it happened when I was there to fix the problem and I always keep extra bulbs of the right wattage on hand! Whew! So first thing in the morning, into lockdown they go!
OMG, heart attack... Some of the eggs are supposed to go into lockdown tomorrow. Just candled one of those eggs and the chick has already pipped internally. Put it back ASAP and raising the humidity...

That's what I was hoping was the case! I think I have 1 or 2 that may have quit on my since last candle, but I couldn't be SURE so I left them in the bator to wait it out and see what happens. I will have my eyes fixed on the bator from here on out! Good thing I can see it from the kitchen or I'm not sure there would be turkey in this house Thursday!
I'm waiting not so patiently for my little RIR/Barred Rock rooster to start crowing! He is 8 going on 9 weeks old now and getting so big! His comb is growing and his tail is getting so long. I'm 99% sure he's a roo, but I won't be SURE SURE until he starts crowing! LOL He is so handsome. He has barring all over, mostly red and white, but has the black and white barring on his tale and his longer feather around his neck. He will be one gorgeous roo when he grows up!

Most people think I'm nuts if I show chicken pics, so I love it when someone wants to see them! haha This is Rocky, father was a RIR Roooster and Mama was a Barred Rock hen. Is he ALMOST 9 weeks old. He was a lone hatchling from my broody hen, so he has been hand raised and thought of me as mama from day 1. Love him!!!
Did I mention that he's a BIG BOY! LOL
Very pretty..................If you insist! LOL I never mind sharing my pics of my chickens. Most people think I'm nuts if I show chicken pics, so I love it when someone wants to see them! haha This is Rocky, father was a RIR Roooster and Mama was a Barred Rock hen. Is he ALMOST 9 weeks old. He was a lone hatchling from my broody hen, so he has been hand raised and thought of me as mama from day 1. Love him!!!Did I mention that he's a BIG BOY! LOL
