November egg swappers post here!!

I got 8 eggs from Bloominbeauty and 12 from the1much (which 1 was lost in shipping

), and they went in together, BUT.........our power went out Thursday morning form the SNOW!!! and we had to move the bator to a friends' house. So they were all mixed up once they got to his house (I put them in a rubbermaid container to transport --hubby was just gonna carry the bator as is

) and once hatching started, all bets are off! 10 were born on Friday, and 2 were here on Saturday early....

SO I ended up with 12 babies, 4 black ones, 2 reddish ones and 6 yellow ones. All beautiful, but 1 small issue, 3 are spraddle leg. I haven't had the heart to cull them yet, I guess that's on the agenda for this evening..

No, none even got close. Same happened to the Barred Rocks who were in there with them. I think it was a humidity issue. Because my broody hatched out 7. The 8th got stuck to its shell so I had to cull it when it came out anyway. The last 4 of 12 under her had fully formed chicks but they didn't get out.

I would have so loved to have given my broody these little chicks to raise. Hopefully the December eggs will do better.

Aw man, so sorry to hear that......I got a thermometer/hygrometer from WM, and it helped me out alot.
I hope the next hatch goes better.
