November Hatch-A-Long (2014)

OH the beautiful Ducks!!!! Love the pics!!!

Well we have 1 Serama (Button) and 4 Blue/Black Copper Maran Chicks. The last one is still in the bator because I have 3 others pipping (1 Olive Egger and 2 Jersey Giants). The Olive Egger is my side aircell chick so I'm watching that one carefully. Had no progress for 10 hours and now starting to get after it again.

The Four in the Brooder are doing great so far. I have them in my bathroom and its still chilly in there despite me cranking up the heat in the house (temp in brooder is around 94 at under Brinsea Ecoglow) so I'm reluctant to take them out for real pics just yet. After what happened to Mutt Mutt (baby I had to put down earlier this week) I just really want to be careful.

I WILL say though that the Serama is already so personable! I cannot get over it. I had heard they were cuddlers, but this baby ALREADY will walk up onto my hand if I offer it. He is about a 1/4 of the size of the BCM's and holding his/her own against them. I hope the other Serama egg hatches so it has a buddy his own size.

I promise to get pics after I feel it is a little safer to get them out.

Congrats on everyone's hatches so far!!!

And we are now up to 1 serama, 4 BCM, and 1 Jersey Giant... Two pips still working, and then 7 other slow poke eggs doing nothing so far. Day 21 started at 8 am

Hi everyone!! My new update is 5 hatched and all but one is pipped and zipping!!! Had my humidity fall to like 48 so I wet a piece of sponge and still was a little worried so I like a dummy wet another small piece. Now I had 3 chicks hatch at once and the humidity went crazy to like 90....grrrrr. You think I would learn by now

Figured I wouldn't hurt the* chicks to much to open bator and at least remove the sponges. Hoping all are ok. The 5 that have hatched seem great!! Of course the first 2 are a little bit of bullys and are going around tapping on the others eggs as if to say hurry up!!! LOL I will update again later!! Can't wait to see them all out! Good luck to all!!!

It looks like one of my Anconas is actually a Cayuga!! The woman I got them from told me they had Cayugas also and one of the eggs was smaller and grey so I thought it might be. It has a cute little black bill sticking out... I know I'll be tempted to keep it but really shouldn't!

5 of my 7 shipped eggs hatched. I had one early quitter and I am waiting another day of the last, but I don't think it is viable. I candled it and the air cell looks huge. Here are some pics of my ridiculously adorable babies!
