Thanks me too! I actually am one of those over candlers, but this one just creeped up on me with no warning! lol Just glad the membrane was strong enough to hold it....lol It was gross!Hoping for strong, happy peeps with no drama!
Gross! Hoping I candle enough to catch them before that point. I don't do well with smells!
Yea! So glad it's going well!I have 3 of the 5 that went to lockdown hatch so far. 4th one is zipping. This one is a precious pullet egg (she just started laying 3 weeks before I set her egg). The egg was really small and I am expecting a small baby. Lets see how it does! Day 22 is not over yet so I will probably give the 5th egg tonight and then let the broody free. Since the first chick hatched yesterday morning, they will be pretty hungry by tomorrow morning. I would rather have the broody take care of them instead of waiting on 1 egg.
Considering my Day 20 disaster, I am on the moon with this hatch! Kids are also very happy because these are babies from their beloved chickens.
Congrats everyone who has hatched so far! @thailand how is it going for you? Got some sleep? Everyone else who is on lockdown, good luck with everything.
People who have hatched and rested, please post pics of your chicks.
You're welcome and I LOVE your signature quote!Thank you!!
I believe the term is "OCD - Obsessive Chicken Disorder"I figured I couldn't do any more damage than the temp spike this morning. I candled the five day 19s left in the first batch. Two have movement, the other three appear to have receding veins. So there's still hope.
Over half of the other 11 eggs not yet in lockdown had movement with a quick candling, so even if my first batch is a failure, the second still has promise. I'm doing nothing today but obsessing over my eggs. All I can think is "Eggs, eggs, new incubator, ooh a piece of candy, eggs, thermostat." My brain is weird sometimes.

I have a feeling that they are talking about shining the light on the egg and not about moving the egg that is the issue. I can't quote but I read somewhere that too much candling disturbs the developing chicks without regards to a specific time period. Maybe they are super-sensitive during this particular time frame.
