November Hatch-A-Long (2014)

No. I candled the 4 remaining silkie eggs from the first batch. All dead. I opened them and they all looked perfectly formed, hadn't pipped at all yet. The RIR's aren't even 24 hours overdue yet so I'm letting them be but I'm worried they didn't survive either. It's possible the temp spike was longer than I thought. I thought I had checked the temp about half an hour before I noticed the temp spike but was cooking dinner and cleaning at the time so it might've been much longer than I thought.

Danged weather change!! So now I have the remaining 4 RIR eggs and 3 silkie eggs from my last silkie batch in lockdown.

Hope they make it.

What!?!?!? Y'all don't get in the brooder and cuddle with your babies to keep them warm?!?!? (uh... must be just me!)

That is why I have kept my incubator at the clinic instead of at home.. our power seems to go out daily for no reason...

Day 19 here I keep staring at the Seramas for early pip... My eyes are crossing.

it snowed here in Arkansas for the first time last night... (very strange) I was worried I might have to sit on the eggs if our power went out. Lmao

If the power went out I'd have all my chicks in my bed with me

Literally sitting on my hands... this day is going SO SLOW!!! I have nothing to do but sit and think about how I could get in one more good candle...

Quote: I had the same experience with one of mine. I waited a long time and she didn't make any progress. I peeled away some shell but the membrane was very vascular. I attempted to push the membrane back without damaging it. It took a LONG time for this chick to finally finish hatching, with help. She was so weak there was no way she could have gotten out of the shell on her own. From pip to the time she was removed from the incubator was over 48 hours. She was very week and could not stand or eat for two additional day. She also had aspirated some fluid and was having breathing problems. I was sure she would not survive, but she is 5 days old now and despite being very small she is doing well. Yesterday she gained 1 gram (since the day before), which seems like a huge victory considering what she has gone through.

Ssssoooooooooooo..... my hand MAY have just slipped the top of the bator off... only long enough to pour in some water.... and pic up an egg..... and a light....

I MAY or MAY NOT have just seen an internal pip and heard a cheep....

I can't really be sure......

I'm at day 10 of my second hatching - Light Sussex from Papa's poultry. I have 7 out of 10. Good movement, lets hope they can keep it up.

I also have 2 D'uccles from a ebay purchase of 6. I really hope these are hens.

Wish me luck.
