November Hatch-A-Long (2014)

My incubator is having humidity trouble as well. I added hot water to the tray and the humidity was at 70%. Couple hours later it was back down to 50%. I added a towel with water and will check again in a half hour. Both plugs are out so I think the humid air is escaping.

I started having trouble with mine towards the end of this hatch. I discovered the thing was going through nearly a half a cup of water an hour. Every time I checked the humidity well was empty.

I meant Antiquity's new baby. The one next to it was almost climbing out of it's little basket in with the newly hatched one. Lock down isn't till the 11th for me with 9 eggs still going strong.

I'm watching it on youtube with no sound because my baby felt the need to chirp right along with it!

I was watching it and the baby started to chirp really loud and my babies that are inside (hatched two weeks ago) keep talking back to it!

Oh that is so awesome!

I think after I build my new incubator I'm going to try a hatch-along where we all set eggs on the same day and livestream to each other. There's got to be some interest in that. I would love to see chicks responding

Yeah. I think Ringo is going to be a great broody. She's already sitting on eggs and won't come off.

What you can't see that's happening is that Ringo is dozing off and every time the new chick chirps she wakes up and starts scowling at it. That's when she cranes her head over to get a closer look at it.

We had a bit of a surprise today! My legbars are not legbars. They're adorable but the price I paid for mixes has me a bit irritated. The eggs were pretty bright blue, but of the three that have hatched they have silkie features! Two have the extra toes, two have the black skin, the third looks like a possible Easter Egger. One more of those to go. It'll be interesting to see what comes out of it. I have one of the silkie mixes in my armpit in bed lol. Had to help it out of its shell a little and it's such a snuggle little guy! All 10 of the lavender orpingtons are out and healthy as well! They're so cute!!

You bought pure legbar eggs and they are mixed? I'd be mad, too. Maybe you can get your money refunded. The same thing happened to me with Marans eggs, although I didn't pay much for them so I can't be too upset. I did end up with one pullet that might be a Marans. I'll have to wait a couple more months to see what color egg she lays.

You bought pure legbar eggs and they are mixed?  I'd be mad, too.  Maybe you can get your money refunded.  The same thing happened to me with Marans eggs, although I didn't pay much for them so I can't be too upset.  I did end up with one pullet that might be a Marans.  I'll have to wait a couple more months to see what color egg she lays.  

Yes, I'm mad at the fact I was duped, but maybe they got mixed up with her ee? Both blue eggs at least. I have emailed to see what they'll do.

Um... Day 1, no Hour 1... My 4 Cream Legbar eggs were really messy. I cleaned them, just in case, and shortly after they went into the incubator, this one started to ooze! Could it be from the temperature change? Did I not dry it? Please tell me there's hope! These are the eggs I wanted!

Not to be a Debbie Downer but I did have an egg that was messy when I got it. I cleaned it up and it started to ooze a little a few days later. I candled it and it turned out to be rotten. Well I didn't know it was rotten until I accidentally tapped it and it popped open (thankfully in a plastic baggie). Does it smell?
