I had the same problem a few days ago and after I noticed the pip and the wrong end, I listened for the sound of the chick's neck an d opened the hole wide enough to expose the beak so s/he could breath...upped the humidity and laid a paper towel tented over the hole...waited 27 hours and after no progress went back in, removed about 60% of the shell, leaving 2/3rds of the inner lining. Moistened the lining with DISTILLED water and put her back. She finished hatching about thirty minutes later. So best wishes to you for a healthy hatch!I have a pip in one of my cream legbar eggs! It's in the middle of the egg, more towards the narrow end. I'm a little worried. It is peeping. I peeled just a tiny bit of egg to reveal the membrane and made a tiny snip near the beak. It's day 21, but I had a half day where the temp was a little low (92-94), so if they are ok, they will probably hatch late. I don't want to to rush help this one, but I am worried about it since it's not in the big end. A local friend of mine has cream legbars from the same batch from the same breeder. She had 2-3 pip like this and they all died.![]()

I have a chick w a string and bloody looking sack hanging out it's butt. I'm afraid it's the intestines. Has anyone had this happen before? I tried uploading a pic and it won't let me. Ugh!
Yes, in the incubator, my first three did fine, my fourth died while zipping, I opened it and it had the sAme thing the fifth does. 6Th just hatched w same thing but a little less. I'm in shock, 2nd time and never have I seen this. Its almost like their butt hole is blown up. (Sorry, but best way to describe it)It may still have a bit of yolk sack to absorb... may just need a little more time, is it still in the incubator?
